Operations Manager

This is a Contract position in Elmira, NY posted May 1, 2021.

The Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and overseeing all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of product. The requirements for this position that will report to the Director of Operations are as follows: EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred. EXPERIENCE : Minimum 7 years of plant/supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the manufacturing/machining Industry preferred. Effective employee relations skills to assist in maintaining a union-free workplace. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. Ability to work and influence all levels of the organization required. Effective coaching and mentoring skills. Demonstrated experience with lean and continuous improvement tools required. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred. Proven results in process improvement/transformation preferred. QUALIFICATIONS : The qualified candidate will be resourceful and driven. The highest degree of ethics and integrity is required. Must have excellent critical thinking skills and be able analyze and problem solve. This highly motivated self-starter must also have excellent communication skills and be successful at coordinating with other functional areas to drive projects to completion. REPORTS TO : Director of Operations LOCATION : Elmira, NY RESPONSIBILITIES : Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Oversee the daily workflow, schedules, and key metrics for the departments in your responsibility, including safety, quality, production, and delivery. Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in all aspects of production and assembly operations while leading the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Cultivate a continuous improvement culture by establishing a commitment to the elimination of waste using tools of lean. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain. Coordinate production activities with buyers, planners, and production supervisors to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. Maintain required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production. Develop and control profits, plans, and budget. Analyze current inventories and procedures and implement systems to improve efficiency of supply chain and maximize production capacity. Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses. Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust plant facilities and equipment when necessary. Lead transformation of physical plant and support preventative maintenance programs. Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives. Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel. Provides direction, development, and leadership to production supervisors.
