nn TITLE: Environmental, Health & Safety Manager nn nn nn nn REPORTS TO:VP Operations / General Manager nn nn nn nn DEPARTMENT:General Manufacturing nn nn nn nn SUPERVISES:Safety, Health & Environmental Coordinator nn nn nn nn ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Interfaces with all employee groups, particularly line supervisors and managers.

nn nn nn nn BASIC FUNCTION: Creates a EH&S presence across the plant and organization including a physical presence.

To serve as the staff specialist in safety by developing and carrying out procedures with the line organization that effectively control accident and health exposures in the company and minimize OSHA citations.

Develops three year strategic EH&S plans and annual EH&S Opportunity plans to yield ongoing World Class EH&S Performance.

nn nn nn nn RESPONSIBILITIES: nn nMaintains compliance with OSHA industrial hygiene regulations or audits.

n nResponsibility and compliance to SARA Title II Community Right to Know Program.

n nCoordinates permit filing, waste disposal, tank testing and compliance reporting per regulations and policies.

n nAssists line and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations.

n nGuides investigates injuries via root cause analysis in conjunction with line and staff personnel.

Develops effective and sustainable corrective actions.

Notifies top management of pertinent details.

n nEvaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.

n nAssists in communicating hazard control information and evaluates effectiveness of the control.

n nGuides and assists plant personnel at locations with critical safety and health problems.

n nOverviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas.

n nPlans and directs safety and industrial hygiene services of insurance carriers to obtain optimum services.

n nWorks with trade and professional organizations to promote goals and objectives in the health and safety area that affect companys business.

n nAssess new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the companys operations.

n nEstablishes target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.

n nKeeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company.

n nActs as ranking divisional representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the company.

n nConducts safety training associated with regulatory compliance.

n nCreates site wide communication and action tools that create EH&S ownership for every employee.

n nPresents safety data in an actionable form to drive EH&S ownership to all employees n nImplements and/or grows and fosters a Behavior Base Safety (BBS) Program across the organization.

n nn nn nn nn nn nn nn QUALIFICATIONS: nn nn nn nn Bachelors degree in safety engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred.

nn nn Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status recommended.

nn nn Five years professional experience in manufacturing industry, with a focus on safety.

nn nn Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
